PJ's Coffee of New Orleans Is Coming to Rosenberg

Well, Rosenberg neighbors, it looks like we're getting a little taste of New Orleans right here on Reading Road.

PJ's Coffee of New Orleans is planning a new shop inside Town Center Village at 5149 Reading Road, Rosenberg, TX 77471. The planned grand-opening date is Saturday, October 31, 2026—so yes, Halloween morning may come with coffee and beignets this year.

Before we start making opening-day plans, one quick neighborly note: the Rosenberg shop does not yet appear on PJ's official location directory, and we have not found a public announcement with a grand-opening time or special offers. The October 31 date should be treated as the planned date, and we'll want to check the shop's official channels closer to opening day.

What We Know About the Rosenberg Location

This is more than a rumor floating around the neighborhood Facebook groups. A project record from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation names PJ's Coffee of New Orleans (Rosenberg_2) as a tenant improvement inside Town Center Village.

According to that filing, the coffee shop will occupy approximately 1,800 square feet. The project includes the interior build-out and the architectural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical work needed to turn the space into a working café. Construction is listed with an August 31 start date and an estimated completion date of October 30, 2026.

That puts the planned October 31 grand opening immediately after the scheduled construction completion. As anyone who has watched a new business open knows, construction schedules can move, inspections take time and opening dates sometimes change. Still, it gives us a good idea of what the team is working toward.

Town Center Village is a newer retail center at Reading Road and Town Center Boulevard, about a mile north of US-59. It sits between B.F. Terry High School and Lamar Consolidated High School, which makes this a convenient stop for quite a few people: parents after school drop-off, teachers on the way to campus, commuters heading toward the freeway and families running weekend errands.

In other words, it's the kind of spot where a neighborhood coffee shop could stay busy without needing a special occasion.

So, What Is PJ's Coffee?

If you haven't tried PJ's before, this is not a brand that simply borrowed a fleur-de-lis and called itself New Orleans-inspired.

PJ's Coffee was founded in New Orleans in 1978 by Phyllis Jordan. The company says its coffee is still roasted in small batches near the French Quarter, using 100% Arabica beans sourced from around the world. That New Orleans background shows up in both the drinks and the food.

One of the brand's signatures is its Original Cold Brew iced coffee. PJ's says it uses a daily cold-drip process designed to protect the coffee's flavor and strength while producing a drink that is less acidic. For those of us who love iced coffee year-round—and Texas weather certainly gives us permission—that may become the first item to try.

PJ's also serves familiar coffeehouse favorites, including brewed coffee, espresso drinks, lattes and frozen beverages. The official menu changes with seasonal offerings, so the exact Rosenberg lineup has not been announced. Still, nearby PJ's locations give us a pretty good picture of the type of menu the company usually offers.

Yes, There Are Beignets

Let's get to the question many of us were going to ask first: What about the beignets?

Fresh beignets are part of PJ's New Orleans-style menu. They are served warm and dusted with powdered sugar, just as a beignet ought to be. PJ's recommends pairing them with a Café au Lait made with dark-roast coffee and steamed milk.

That sounds like an easy weekend treat with the kids—or a quiet weekday reward after surviving the morning car line.

The broader PJ's menu commonly includes pastries such as muffins, croissants and cinnamon rolls, along with breakfast sandwiches and other grab-and-go food. Until the Rosenberg location publishes its own menu, availability should not be considered guaranteed. But if it follows the standard PJ's format, this should be more than a place to grab coffee and leave. It could also work for a quick breakfast, an informal meeting or a snack on the way to the next activity.

Why This Location Makes Sense for Rosenberg

Reading Road is already part of the daily routine for a lot of Richmond and Rosenberg families. Town Center Village's leasing information points to the schools nearby, easy access to US-59 and the growing number of households within a short drive.

From a neighbor's point of view, though, the appeal is simpler. The location is close enough to be useful.

It could be the place where you meet a friend without driving all the way into Sugar Land. It could be a quick stop before Saturday sports. It could become the "I need ten quiet minutes and a cold brew" destination after errands. And for people who work from home, a new café adds another option when the same four walls start feeling a little too familiar.

Rosenberg has been gaining more restaurants, shops and services, but every new opening fills a slightly different role. A New Orleans-rooted coffee shop with cold brew, breakfast food and beignets brings something that feels familiar and a little different at the same time.

What We're Hoping to Learn Next

There are still a few details we'll be watching for as October gets closer: the official store hours, whether the Rosenberg location will have a drive-thru, the confirmed grand-opening time, any opening-day giveaways, discounts or ribbon-cutting ceremony, the location's phone number, online-ordering page and social accounts, and the final Rosenberg menu.

The Town Center Village property has advertised drive-thru-capable space, but the state project record does not confirm that the PJ's suite itself will offer drive-thru service. We're leaving that in the "wait and see" column for now.

The same goes for Halloween festivities. October 31 gives the team plenty of possibilities, but we have not seen an announcement about costumes, candy or themed promotions. Those would be fun; they just are not confirmed yet.
